Hahnemühle Baryta Paper
Founded in 1584, Hahnemühle have certainly stood the test of time. Their fine art papers undergo strict quality assessments, ensuring that they are of an extraordinarily high standard. Hahnemühle’s Fine Art papers are judged on no less than 11 different criteria during their quality assessment. Traits tested for include colour density, light resistance, age resistance, ink limit, bleed, feel, optical properties, consistency of quality, colour gamut, thickness and opacity.
More specifically, for the quality fine art prints that we offer here on this website, our default choice of paper is the Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta. This is a bright-white, heavy weight paper of 325gsm (grams per square metre). Consisting 100% of alpha cellulose, it is lignin free as well as acid free. This translates to increased age resistance and elimination of any chances of yellowing.
The paper is light-resistant for at least 100 years!
Specialist testing shows that Hahnemühle Fine Art paper is resistant to light-induced aging for at least 100 years!
The Fine Art Baryta is finished with a high-grade, glossy, inkjet coating which results in prints of exceptional calibre. Colour and detail are exquisitely replicated along with deep blacks and stunning contrasts. This makes Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta paper an excellent choice for the printing of colour and black-and-white photographs alike. It is also a perfect option, therefore, for the part-colour, part-black-and-white prints available in our shop.
With regards to feel, too, the Baryta variety of Hahnemühle paper excels. A notable, felt-like structure imparts a soft, tangible texture to the paper’s surface leading to a print with imposing depth and three-dimensional character.
High Quality Fine Art Prints Deserve High Quality Frames
We use solid wooden frames for the framing of our prints. Bern black varnish 20mm frames are our default choice. These are used in combination with a bright-white, 5cm-wide, 1.4mm-thick passepartout.
The passepartouts are made from Hahnemühle museum-quality card which is acid-free, lignin-free and fade resistant. The passepartout is positioned flush with the image, its bevelled inner edges ensuring no shadow is cast.
The fine wooden frame and passepartout are partnered with a classic, gallery-quality, glossy float glass, a trio of framing elements that we believe showcases the prints at their very best.
If you desire alternative materials with regards to the paper, frame, passepartout or glass, please don’t hesitate to contact us for a quote.
