Hi there, I’m Jacob, life-long lover of nature, and the founder, author and photographer at Lake District Nature Writing & Photography. I believe that it is incredibly important to connect with nature for a healthy mind and body.
There is a fast-growing body of scientific research that confirms my belief. Connecting with nature by getting outside and immersing oneself in the natural world reduces stress, anxiety, blood pressure, aggression, the severity of Attention Deficit Disorder and more. At the same time, connecting with nature improves one’s mood, self-esteem, sense of calm and even one’s immune system.

When we connect with nature, there is clearly no better way to do so than to get outdoors and surround yourself with it. However, you may feel you don’t have the time, energy or means to get outdoors as much as you’d like to. I would encourage you, in that case, and indeed any case, to immerse yourself in words and images that have been inspired by nature.
